Abstract
Sugarcane bagasse ash is one of the agricultural waste ashes that are being utilized as pozzolanic materials and supplements to improve the compressive strength of concrete by partially replacing the amount of cement. It helps to decrease the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions from lessening the use of cement either in mortar or concrete production. In this study, the effect of curing period on the sorptivity of Type I cement concrete with SCBA was investigated. The percent replacement used were )% and 10% while the curing periods considered were 7,28,56 and 90 days. the test results showed that concrete with 10% SCBA has a lower initial sorptivity values compared to the control specimen except for the concrete cured for 7 days. In the case of secondary sorptivity, concrete with 10% SCBA showed a consistent decrease in sorptivity at all curing period. Generally, both the initial and secondary sorptivity values decreased as the curing period increased.
