Abstract
Under the Magna Carta for Persons with Disabilities, PWD's are entitled to obtain equal rights and priviledges thus, they are supposed to live freely and independently as much as possible. Moreover, UPLB, as an institution offering public services, shall be accessible to all, as supported by the University of the Philippines Charter of 2008, emphasizing equal access to all qualified students. The Batas Pambansa Bilang 344 (BP 344) or the Accessibility Law is the act that focuses on the enhancement of the mobility of disabled persons by requiring buildings and establishments to provide facilities that are accessible to PWDs. Selected buildings and street facilities are measured according to the minimum requirements of BP 344. Among the 16 selected buildings, PhySci has the highest percentage of compliance with 53% passing percentage for the dormitories, New Dormitory got the highest passing mark of 40% and for the streets, and 100% passing mark was attained by Gen. Romeo Espino Street. Based on the results of the assessment, the UPLB lower campus falls under the 26%-50% category providing that the university is still not prepared to accept differently-abled persons around the campus and shall take a higher leap through construction and renovations of existing facilities.
