Abstract

On the average, the NXP Semiconductors Cabuyao, Inc. could not satisfy the customer demand due to the low production line efficiency. This resulted to an annual opportunity loss of Php 862, 926.29. The study aimed to increase the efficiency of the product line, specifically for the Device B-2, from 80.82% to 94.25% through reduction of the non-value adding activities at the trimming station. Through work measurement techniques, the proportion of times spent for each activities at the trimming station were recorded. The gathered data were utilized to determine the root causes and to formulated alternatives accordingly. Among the actions proposed to address the root causes were stricter implementation of existing company rules and regulations, designation of the levels of the work-in-process rack for specific WIP types, relocation of the log in/out terminals, and purchase of light signals. Through implementation of these solutions, the production line will be able to meet daily demand. The overall cost of implementation is Php 7,485.55.
