Abstract

LY-RA Chemicals and Trading Company, Incorporated, a provider and distributor of chemicals in the Philippines, aims to become their clients' trusted partner through the products and quality of service they provide. However, the company is currently experiencing an average of 6,169.67 kg of monthly delayed orders and 771.53 kg of monthly cancelled orders of hydrochloric acid resulting in customer loss as well as a revenue loss of Php 563, 756.80 from January 2013 to December 2015. After generating and evaluating alternative solutions, it is recommended that the company provide a record book that is placed beside the telephone to immediately take orders from customers who are placing their orders through a phone call. It is also recommended that the company apply exponential smoothing in forecasting their monthly demand, maintain safety stock and place an order of assigned order quantity when the inventory level reaches the computed reorder point, and purchase one six-wheeler truck in order to increase the quantity of hydrochloric acid that may be delivered in a day. Assuming all recommendations are implemented, the monthly revenue loss will be reduced from Php 15,660.16 to Php 3,344.
