Abstract

aThe study explores the effectiveness and the impact of technology videos as the principal tool for Agricultural Extension to encourage farming practice adoption and/or reformation on corn production. It is based on a structured survey of 60 respondents: 30 residents each from Barangay Carmen and Barangay Hukay, Silang, Cavite. Results show that the main source of corn farming knowledge for both locations root from generations of farming experience that have been passed on. The farmers from Barangay Carmen are more open to programs and technologies promoted by the Municipal Agricultural Office, almost all the respondents in Barangay Carmen have participated to and have watched technology videos compared with Barangay Hukay. Knowledge on corn production in Barangay Carmen is more pronounced than Barangay Hukay. This can be attributed to regular presentation of videos and frequent visit of municipal agricultural workers. The difference can be manifested in the number of corn growers in Barangay Carmen.
