Abstract

The plant practice was conducted at the Quality Assurance Department of the Universal Robina Corporation Rosario Plant, Rosario, Pasig City from 18th of June 2015 up to the 11th of July 2015 for a total of 154.65 hours. The company is well known for its consumer brands Jack ?n Jill and Nissin Cup Noodles. It has widespread branches all over the Philippines, and URC Rosario is one of the biggest branch, producing world class and wholesome food products. The trainee was assigned at the Acceptance Laboratory of the Quality Assurance Department for 75 hours, and continuing the last half of the total hours at the Microbiology Laboratory. He was given physicochemical analysis tasks on different raw materials and packaging materials in the Acceptance Laboratory, and Microbial Analysis tasks on the raw materials and finished goods in the Microbiology Laboratory. The analyses performed by the trainee was for quality control of the raw materials to be used for production, packaging materials for containing the products, and the finished products before sending them to the market. As a result of the whole training, the trainee did learn a lot from URC, and he has applied the theoretical knowledge he had learned from the university to the food manufacturing industry.
