Abstract

The practicum was conducted at Republic Flour Mill Corporation located at Pulo, Cabuyao, Laguna from June to July 2015. Established by Filipino entrepreneurs, Republic Flour Mill Corporation is a food manufacturing company, one of the most established food and beverage company in the Philippines that manufactures flour-based products, milk, juice drinks and ice cream. The trainee was assigned in four different stations under the Quality Assurance Department, namely, (1) Production Line, (2) Cut-up section, (3) Chemistry Laboratory, and (4) Acceptance Section. The trainee was able to have hands-on experiences of tests done in each station during the whole period of her training. In the production line, the trainee was able to witness and monitor the processing of milk and juices and was able to assist and conduct the different monitoring practices and tests in this area. In the cut-up section, the actual sampling and cutting of samples was experienced by the trainee. While in the Chemistry Laboratory, sample of finished goods and raw materials were tested for their physicochemical properties and able to check if they conform to the standards, and the various tests in this laboratory was conducted by the trainee. Lastly, in the Acceptance Section, the trainee was taught how the sample of raw materials are being checked and tested. The trainee was able to apply her acquired knowledge from the university and learned more new techniques and tests during her training which would be useful for her future work.
