Abstract

The major practice was conducted from June 8 to July 8, 2015 at the Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines, Inc., Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The primary objective of the On-the-Job Training program was to acquaint the student into actual plant operations of the chosen company. The student was assigned to the different divisions of the Quality Assurance Department - One Ways: 1) Sensory evaluation laboratory 2) Microbiology laboratory and 3) Production lines. Hands-on training on quality assurance and evaluation of the sensory characteristics as well as the microbiological aspects of the raw materials used and the products manufactured in the said company aided the student in identifying and understanding the different stages involved in the production. She was able to observe, evaluate and be trained of the various technical practices employed in the industry. The author was also able to familiarize herself with the production processes that guaranteed quality control over finished beverage products. Through the plant practice experience, she was able to apply the knowledge and utilize the skills she gained from the university. The practicum has become her training ground not only because she was able to apply her academic learning but also it helped her acquire self-confidence and proper work attitude. The plant practice provided the author with valuable insights as to how she could be of help to her future working place.
