Abstract

The practicum was conducted at CDO Foodsphere, Inc., Barangay Bulihan, Malvar, Batangas from July 3 up to July 30, 2014 for a total of 150 hours. The company has two plants wherein its main plant is located in Valenzulea City. The company has provided various food products such as canned (marine and meat) products, bottled (preserved) products, frozen meat products and cheeses. The plant practice is consisted of laboratory orientation performed the daily tests conducted by the laboratory on raw materials, work in-process and finished product samples, discussions on the manufacturing process and a tour inside the production plant of the company. In the duration of the plant practice, the trainee was able to gain enough knowledge and apply some information gathered while in the university. Also, she was familiarized on the different equipment used in the laboratory to maintain the good qualities of a certain product. The GMPs and the laboratory practices she learned during her practicum have been useful while she was outside the company?s premises. Also, the values she learned and her awareness on how a production plant works will be very useful once she stepped out on the university and enters the industry. The company has given great experiences to the trainee thus she had a deeper appreciation on the course she is taking and had a wide range of ideas on how a Food Technologist works inside the food industry.
