Abstract
The practicum covered 240 hours of training in the Returnable Glass Bottles (RGB) Plant of Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines Inc., at Brgy. Pulong Sta. Cruz, Sta. Rosa, Laguna, which started from June 8, 2015 and ended on July 8, 2015. The student was assigned to the following divisions of the Quality Assurance department: 1.) Product/ Line Testing 2.) Process Testing and 3.) Raw Materials Testing with the integration of Sensory Evaluation in all of the mentioned divisions. She was first assigned in the Product/Line Testing division where she was trained to test for product quality control measures such as °brix, net content, gas volume, fill height, and phosphate assay of the final goods. It covered two weeks of training which involved familiarization to the equipment used and to the analyses done. On the third week, she was assigned to the Process Testing division wherein she learned about the tests done prior to the formulation of Coca-Cola products. Involved in this division are the analyses employed to ensure purity of the production inputs such as water and syrup. The fourth and last week of the practicum was allotted to Raw Materials Testing. The student was introduced to sampling and quality testing performed on the incoming materials before they can be deemed suitable for production. The raw materials included are high-fructose corn syrup, granular sugar, glass bottles, crowns, caustic soda, and liquid carbon dioxide, above others. Ultimately, the student was always reminded of the value and weight of safety and quality inside the manufacturing plant.
