Abstract
The study investigated the effect of using raw paper sludge as binder additive in terms of workability and compressive strength. Four variation of percent addition were used (5%,10%, 15%, and 20%) for each batch at a water to binder ration of 0.5 having a total of 25 specimens. The slump was found to decrease as the amount of paper sludge added were increased. And after 28 days of curing, the compressive strength of all concrete sample with added paper sludge has lower compressive strength compared to the control samples. the decrease in the compressive strength was due to the presence of contaminants found in the paper sludge. Compared to another similar study with different mix proportion, the result of addition of raw paper sludge decreases the slump as amount of paper sludge increases. Also, the compressive strength decreases as the amount paper sludge increases was observed.
