Abstract
Evaluations of commercially available brake levers suggests that the parts are not fit to Filipino users. This study aims to address this concern by establishing a set of brake level and shifter measurements designed for young adult filipino women. Anthropometric hand measurements of female students from three different colleges whose age ranges from 17 to 21 years old were gathered for the study. Specifically, the data collected were used to determine the appropriate dimensions of brake levers and shifters. Three sets of measurements were developed corresponding to small, medium, and large sizes. A prototype was fabricated to validate the proposed measurements. Based on the evaluation of the prototype and an existing set of brake lever and shifter, 67% of the respondents preferred the prototype over the existing set, suggesting that the proposed measurements fir more to the target demographics.
