Abstract
Electricity is considered as one of the most important energy being used and now, the world is facing energy crisis due to its limited resources. As a response to this scarcity, different organizations worldwide implemented energy management to save energy. Also, the government, particularly in the Philippines, implemented several orders regarding this issue. University of the Philippines Los Baños, as a part of the government institutions, must also comply with these orders to conserve energy particularly electricity. In this study, modeling the energy performance of CEAT Library at Electrical Engineering Building was done to apply energy management inside the university. Different factors that contribute to the electricity consumption of the library were considered and categorized into two – direct factors that includes air conditioning units, lightings and computers, and indirect factors that includes time, people and room temperature. After gathering the data for electricity consumption and all factors, the data were analyzed using least square regression analysis available in Statistical Packages for Social Sciences program to determine their relationships. After analyzing the data, two models were generated using direct and indirect factors. Although both of these models could be used for prediction, the model using direct factors will give more accurate values for electricity consumption.
