Abstract

Universal Robina Corporation (URC) is one of the biggest food manufacturers in the Philippines. It is known for its snack like biscuits, which is the main focus of the study. The study is focused on the Simon Vicars production line of the URC Bagong Ilog Biscuit Plant. It was identified that the main problem contributors to the large amount of biscuits rejects are misaligned and broken biscuits. These two types of rejects contribute to 81.2% of the amount of rejects. The root causes of misaligned and broken biscuits were identified and analyzed using Ishikawa Diagram and CNX Analysis. The controllable factors were grouped and given immediate solutions. The experimental factors were grouped into four categories and each category and each category was given specific alternatives. Through the use of factor rating method, the best alternatives were identified and recommendations were made. Annual savings of Php 405,352.92 would be made if the recommendations are implemented. The cost of biscuit rejects will be decreased by 11.26%.
