Abstract

The swine practice was conducted at Dumanjug Agro-Livestock Corporation (DALCO) from April to May. It attempted to evaluate the major farm operations and practices, and to provide farm technical analyses. DALCO, a commercial-swine farm that operates on a 550-sow level, is located in the southern part of Cebu, Philippines with a land proportion of 50,000 square meters. The farm administration has outlined clear-cut objectives and responsibly implemented strategies that are favorable to the company’s growth. Strict biosecurities and herd health management measures, proper feeding regimen, efficient management, and record keeping are part of the farm’s policies to ensure high market value and increase productivity. Analysis of the farm performance showed that the overall productivity value of DALCO is at par with the parameters set by the Philippine Council for Agriculture Resource and Development (PCARRD), suggesting that DALCO has high potentials for success in a long term basis.
