Abstract

Hybrids were produced from crosses between Hibiscus cannabinus L. and Hibiscus sabdariffa L. No self and backcross pro- genies were obtained due to sterility exhibited by the F hybrids. Agronomic and morpho-genetic comparisons of the F hybrid and the parental species were observed and compared. Among the striking characters possessed by the hybrids are increased height, delayed time of flowering, sterility, and dense trichome condition. All other characters are either intermediate or similar to either parent.
