Abstract

This study aims to estimate the recreational value of Mount Maculot in Cuenca, Batangas using the individual travel cost method. A two-stage regression analysis was conducted to determine the factors that affect the individual travel cost as well as the number of visit per year on the site. The results show that distance travelled, age, type of community, affiliation in an environmental organization, and length of stay significantly affect the travel cost. On the other hand, distance travelled, monthly income, age, gender, civil status, educational attainment, cost of substitute sites, type of community, affiliation in hiking clubs, visit with a group, and expected travel cost are the significant factors affecting the visit per year. The estimated recreational value of Mount Maculot is PHP 2.5 million per year.
