Abstract

Two experiments were conducted from June to October, 1966 the from July to December, 1967 in the College of Agriculture, University of the Philippines to find the influence of the different stages of maturity in pili branches and strains that is best for marcotting. Different stages of maturity were designated by performing treatments on branch sizes 4, 3, 2, and 1 centimeter. Only pili tree No. 51 and 28 produced successful marcots. Branches of size 4 and 3 centimeters showed early rooting, vigor in root growth, more roots and a higher percentage survival. This was more pronounced in pili tree No. 51 than in pili tree No. 28.
