Abstract

A farm practice was conducted in Imugan. Sta. Fe. Nueva Vizcaya from May to June 1991 to gain exposure to the real world of the highlands and to determine their backwardness to technology. Four farms within the Kalahan Educational Foundation (KEF) reserved area were chosen as representatives. Through direct different farm resources and cultural management. Practices in sweet potato production were documented . The technological background of the farmers was evaluated through interviews. the farmers practiced similar cropping system. Which is "kaingin" wherein traditional practices are being employed. Further research and studies are needed in the area in relation to their major problems such as the rapid soil erosion. susceptibility of sweet potato cultivars to paste and diseases and the declining soil fertility.
