Abstract

Five hundred beads were initially selected from a commercial planting and from these two-hundred panicles were grown and observed in a rice purification nursery with the purpose of isolating a homogenous variety of Guinangang.

Of the two hundred lines grown in this study, fifty lines were finally selected as varietal type to constitute the foundation seeds. Twenty-two lines that yielded more than the average varietal type and eighteen lines observed as desirable off-types were selected for further improvement of the variety.
