Abstract

The farm practice was conducted at the Philippine Business for Social Progress Center for Rural Technology Development (PBSP-CRTD) in Brgy San Isidro, Calauan, Laguna from April - May 2010 to document and assess the existing farm components and practices in the area in relation to sustainable agriculture (SA) and to give recommendations to the identified problems. The recommendations given would help CRTD in showcasing other farming systems and improve the existing farm components it would also allow CRTD to have better facilitation of farm operations.

Based on the evaluation and assessment done, it was found that the interrelationships of the components in each demo farm and among demo farms contribute greatly in achieving sustainability in the farm. The utilization of resources from each component helps the farm attain a stable yield and a mode of production governed by SA principles. Proper utilization of farm materials and the proper application of technology lead to minimal or close to no use of chemical inputs that allows CRTD to produce organically grown products and minimize expenses.
