Abstract

Color shade of the seed coat in the shiny yellow, dull yellow, shiny light green, dull light green, shiny dark green and dull dark green strains of mungo was changed from light to darker tinge during storage, but lustre of the seed coat remained stable.

Significant differences were obtained among the strains, especially on seed yield, plant height and time of flowering, with the dull yellow giving the highest seed yield and the dull dark green being the earliest to flower. These differences are indicative of the high degree of impurity of the seed typically produced by farmers.
