Abstract

This study is entitled "Fish Marketing Strategies: the case of the Barilisan Project of the Service Bureau for Small Fisherfolks (SBSF) at Bry. Porac. Botolan, Zambales. It is aimed to help the fisherfolks in marketing their produce. An interview with the respondents is made to gather the needed information for the study. The respondents are from the members of the SAMA- SAMA PO. a fishing-marketing cooperative. Some of the staff of the SBSF, a nongovernmental organization. Are also interviewed for some additional information. They are also given questionnaires to gather data about the marketing situation in Bgy. Porac, Botolan, Zambales. The Service Bureau for Small Fisherfolks have their Rehabilitation Project for Fishing Barangays. The agency piloted the area of bgy. Porac and the SAMA-SAMA PO had their first project -- The Barilisan Project. It is funded by the PMS. The marketing system in bgy. Porac is the first analyzed before a marketing plan is formulated. There are problems that plagued the marketing system such as the lack of marketing infrastructures. Lack of marketing information dissemination and the presence of middlemen. There are also problems within the cooperative that affect their operations. It is seen that the fisherfolks needed to improve their standard of living that it is suggested that they directly sell their product. Based from the analysis and implications of the study. A marketing plan is formulated for the operation fisherfolks. Recommendations for the SBSF are also made. These are: helping the fisherfolks in marketing research and serving as a tool for market information dissemination: extending financial support to the fisherfolks: and giving trainings and seminars for the enhancement of production and for human resource development.
