Abstract
The data presented were obtained from an experiment conducted to determine the effects of inoculation and varying levels of nitrogen fertilization on the yield and other agronomic characters of peanut.
There was no significant effect of source of inoculation on all characters presented. The non-inoculated plants, however, gave a better performance than the inoculated ones. It seems that inoculation had no added advantage under conditions where the field has the right kind of infective Rhizobium.
Nitrogen fertilization significantly affected seed yield and seed weight. Seed yield and seed weight per plant were higher in plants that were fertilized than those that were fertilized. The best rate of N added seemed to be 30 kg/ha with or without inoculation. The number of marketable and non-marketable pods and plant height, however, were not greatly affected by nitrogen fertilization.
