Abstract
The flowers of grumichama are borne on terminal and axillary inflorescence, each flower cluster bears from 4 to 8 individual flowers. The flower is actinomorphic and complete. Flower buds take about two months to develop up to flower opening. Anthesis starts at 4:45 a.m. and completed at 6:00 in the morning. Fifteen minutes after anthesis, dehiscence of pollen and is completed within an hour.
Growth of the grunichama fruit follows the signold curve. Fruit growth is characterized by slow, gradual increase in Fruit weight until shortly before maturity. The fruit weight at maturity had a mean of 3.8 and 4.2 grams for Piracheba and Rio de Janeiro, respectively.
The yield of two strains included in this study show that Rio de Janeiro with an average of 1.58 kg per plant was more productive than Piracicaba which gave an average of 0.61 kg. per plant
