Abstract
Ten Miller's selected seedling ("M. S. P.") clones, together with Palawan No. 2 (early maturing) and Samar Big Yellow (late maturing), were studied for their relative maturity period and eating equality in the wet season of 1953.
Significant differences in yields of marketable tubers after the growing periods of 60, 90 and 120 days were observed among the twelve clones. The clones were classified as follows: Early maturing - M.S.P. 11, M.S.P. 14, M.S.P 8, and M.S.P. 21; medium late - M.S.P. 12, M.S.P. 1, M.S.P. 10, M.S.P. 13, and M.S.P. 3, late maturing - M.S.P. 2.
The best yielder of marketable tubers upon reaching maturity, M.S.P. 10, gave a computed yield of 29, 167.25 kilograms to a hectare, as against Palawan No. 2, 5,000.10 kilograms, and Samr Big Yellow, 14,000.28 kilograms.
M.S.P. 10, M.S.P. 14, and Samar Big Yellow yielded mealy and dry, soft, sweet and non-fibrous tubers.
In both the check clones and the best Miller's clone (M.S.P. 10), the damaged caused by pests and diseases was negligible.
