Abstract
Studies on the yield performance of three varieties of pickling and slicing cucumbers showed that among the pickling varieties, Gy 3 x 10 Pickle hybrid had the least number of male flowers for every female flower and was the most susceptible to downy mildew 45 days after emergence. On the other hand, Chicago Pickling produced the moat lateral branches and the greatest number of male flowers for every fettle flower. Pixie had the longest slicing fruit., vas the heaviest yielder in terms of number and weight of all six of fruits produced and was the most resistant to downy mildew. Pixie appears to be the best variety for pickle production in the Philippines. The slicing varieties were comparable in yield. Submarine and Early Fortune were the earliest to flower. Marketer bad significantly more male flowers per female flower than Submarine and Early Fortune in the first, second and fourth lateral branches.
