Abstract

A preliminary study on the influence of rainfall, temperature and relative humidity to flowering and fruit setting of three species of coffee was conducted in 1965.

The data on rainfall, temperature and relative humidity were abstracted from the College weather Station's Meteorological data and correlated to flowering frequency of the different varieties.

Multiple regression analysis showed that there was no significant correlation between the amount of rainfall, the temperature, and relative humidity on the flowering frequency of C. robuste, C. arabica and C. excelsa. It was observed, however, that long dry periods followed by shower or rain induced flowering of coffee within 7-12 days in all of the three coffee varieties studied.
