Abstract
Seeds treated 1% HCl germinated in 114 days, about 2 weeks earlier than untreated seeds. Those with broken shells showed delayed and low percentage of germination. The latest to germinate were the seeds without pericarp and shell broken which produced the shortest shoots six months after planting. On the other hand, seeds without pericarp but shell intact were the tallest.
Seeds without pericarp but shell intact and seeds without pericarp but soaked in 1% HCl were the most promising treatments.
