Abstract

The response of the bush sitao to nitrogen fertilization was more evident when the plants are made to produce seed rather than green pod only. Seed yield needed only a rate of 50 kg. N/ha. to obtain a significant increase over the control while the green pods required 150 kg. N/ha.

Results also indicated the value of split application of nitrogen fertilizer on green pod production.

Nitrogen application did not affect the plant height, pod size, number of branches to a plant and harvest index.
