Abstract

The major practice was held at the WhiteGold Farm Corporation in Brgy. Bagong Pook, San Jose Batangas from May 22 to June 12, 2006. The student participated in the general production and management practices employed at the farm. The student was assigned to the different sections of the farm which are: breeding section, gestating section, farrowing section, weaning section and growing-finishing section. The primary data concerning the operations of the farm was obtained through personal interviews with the supervisor and through hands-on experience and participation in the farm activities. The field practice provided the student a great opportunity to have a practical application of the theories and principles learned in the university, and to acquire more knowledge, supervisory skills and self-confidence from the participation in the actual management of a swine farm. The student was able to observe and evaluate the practices employed in the farm in relation to its production performance, and give some recommendations on how to further improve the farm status.
