Abstract

Unilever RFM Ice Cream Incorporated (URIC) which is located at Manggahan Light Industrial Park. Manggahan Pasig City and was established in 1999. URIC serves as a manufacturer of different kinds of ice creams like in cones. cups, gallons, pints etc. URIC faces a logistic problem about late deliveries of goods to customers one of which is loading delay-a delay wherein the trucker is already in the loading docks of the company and still waiting for their trucks to be loaded with ice cream. The company investigated and estimates a total loss of Php1,480,372 incurred by loading delay which is about 74.1% of the problem in late deliveries. The causes of the problem were identified by using the Schematic Diagnostic Diagram. The controllable factor found out to be not following of instructions by the workers and was given solution which is stricter rule implementation. The experimental factor is the unavailability of eutectic packs. The alternatives given were used of card signals along with either placing the returned eutectic packs in Finished Goods Warehouse or installing additional super freezers. The recommendations, which are to have a stricter implementation of rules, use of card signals and placing the returned eutectic packs in the Finished Goods Warehouse, should give the company a set of more disciplined and competitive workers, and an annual savings worth PhP1,062,300.88.
