Abstract

A total of fourty eight sows were used to determine the effect of injecting 5.0 ml and 3.0 ml of vitamin ADE on the litter performance of the animals. These animals were allotted to three treatments. Treatment 1 which is the control do not receive any injection. Treatment II and III receives a single intramuscular injection of vitamin ADE (3.00 and 5.00 ml. respectively) administered on the 90th day of the gestation period.

Statistical analysis of the performance of the animals did not show any significant differences on the different parameters measured. However, sow injected with 5.00 ml vitamin ADE had a high litter size at weaning.

Pigs injected with 5.0 ml vitamin ADE also gave a lower percentage of low viable, and stillbirth resulting to higher survival rate. The dry period of sow injected with 5.00 ml vitamin ADE were also noted to be shorter.
