Abstract
The study was conducted at the Conception Carrier Airconditioning Company (CCAC) located at Light Industries and Science Park 1 (LISPI), Cabuyao, Laguna from August to November 2009. The study aims to increase the production output of the window room-type air conditioner in the final assembly line.Through the scientific method with the help of some Industrial Engineering tools, the root causes of the low production output were identified. Streamline Diagnostic Diagram shows that different factors under Man, Machine, Method and Materials affect low capacity output of the assembly line. Each cause was carefully evaluated and assessed through Factor Rating Method depending on its impact on the line's capacity output, opportunity loss reduction and productivity. Unbalanced processes and wrong manpower allocation were the identified root causes. To resolve the identified root causes, line balancing was proposed. Combination of processes and manpower allocation was done. The current processes will be decreased from 30 to 22 processes and manpower of 34 to 30. For the recommendations made, CCAC will incur an initial cost of Php224,244.8 to buy machines, training, redesign the workplace, and implement some other improvements within the production system. With this, an annual savings of Php4,614,788.8 will be obtained. This means that the investment will be recovered after only 1 year of implementation.
