Abstract

Families are among the most vulnerable to the effects of the pandemic. It brought an impact, particularly marital relationships, thus affecting satisfaction in married life. The purpose of this study is to determine the marital satisfaction of married women before and during the COVID-19 pandemic and explore the relationship between family income and marital satisfaction during the pandemic. The participants of the study were selected through convenience sampling, with a total of 69 married women between the age of 28 to 67, from a non-government organization, BAYEÑAS, Asosasyong ng Nagkakaisang Kababaihan, Inc. from Santo Domingo Bay, Laguna. The Couple Satisfaction Index (CSI 32) was used to measure the level of satisfaction, while Descriptive Analysis and Spearman Coefficient Correlation Analysis were used to interpret non-probability sampling results. Contradicting the common notions regarding pandemic and low income, the study determined that the pandemic created a positive impact on marital relationships and that low family income does not always relate to a low level of marital satisfaction.
