Abstract

Twenty varieties of cotton were collected from Africa, Taiwan, the United States and Belgian Congo by the Division of Plant Breeding, Department of Agronomy. These varieties were grouped into two and tested with local varieties. Varieties Tainum 10 Buri, cotton Roux, Koronini, Peruvian and Cl-1873 wre found to the high yielders and adapted to Philippine conditions. Bornake and Peruvian varieties were more resistant to diseases than other varieties studied.
