Abstract

This paper compiles characteristics of independent or undecidable statements, so-called because of their seeming unprovability or indisprovability. Undecidable statements are defined; relation between the terms 'independent' and 'undecidable statements' clarified; characterization statements are proved; algorithms for obtaining undecidable statements given; and the difference among statements that are undecidable, semi-decidable, or unknown clarified.
