Abstract
A soursop variety selected from seedling trees was approved for registration by the National Seed Industry Council of the Department of Agriculture. 'Davao Prolific' soursop is a seedling tree of unknown ownership in Davao City, Philippines. It is a spreading, strong, regular-bearing and prolific tree, which responds fairly easily to propagation by cleft grafting. Its fruits mature from August to September. The fruit weighs 1.73 kg and is irregularly heart-shaped. The peel is light green and 1.7 mm thick. The flesh is creamy white, soft and spongy, moderately juicy, moderately fibrous, mildly aromatic, pleasantly sub-acid (15.4° Brix) and constitutes 82.5% of the fruit weight. Each fruit usually has 82 seeds. The seed is oblong to ovoid and weighs 0.49 g.
