Two new species and a new record of predatory mites of the genus Lasioseius Berlese (Acari: Ascidae) inhabiting ornamental crops in the Philippines
Abstract
Two new species of mites of the genus Lasioseius Berlese inhabiting cutflowers in the Philippines are described and illustrated, namely, L. philippinus, collected from Gladiolus corms and Anthurium leaves, and L. pitimini from rose leaves. The latter was found associated with Brevipalpus sp. and Tetranychus urticae Koch. Lasioseius parberlesei Bhattacharyya 1968, collected from Chrysanthemum leaves, rice stubbles and rice hay, is recorded as new in the Philippines and was observed to actually feed on T. urticae Koch. A more detailed description of L. parberlesei is also presented.
