Abstract

A preliminary survey to determine the zygopteran naiads present in the Lagum area of Pinacanauan de Tuguegarao was studied. Naiads were collected using surber, kicknet and D-frame samplers. Six families were identified, namely: Platycnemididae, Protoneuridae, Platystictidae, Chlorocyphidae, Euphaeidae, and Coenagrionidae. These insects are important bioindicators known to be pollution-sensitive particularly Euphaeidae and Chlorocyphidae. On the other hand, Platystictidaeare forest species and bioindicators of fresh water. A key to the zygopteran naiads is provided. Further studies on conservation is recommended for Lagum Area.
