Updates on the UPLB program's small hive beetle monitoring activities
Issue Date
10-2016
Abstract
Continuous monitoring of the small hive beetle Aethina tumida Murray has been conducted since its reported occurrence in Mindanao [Philippines] in November 2014. Heavy infestation in Davao Oriental and General Santos City has led to several Apis melifera colonies to crash, leaving significant losses to beekeepers. This paper also reports on the spread of SBH in other parts of the country and the effect of SHB on native bee species.
