Morphological and behavioral characteristics as bases for field identification of some species of Aspidiotus on coconut
Issue Date
10-2016
Abstract
Differences in scale thickness, body color, pattern in egg deposition, and preferences for plant parts attacked among the three species of coconut scale insect under the genus Aspidiotus, namely: A. rigidus Reyne, A. destructor Signoret and A. nerii (Bouche), were found to be sufficient as bases for identifying these species in the field. A miniature poster had been prepared and distributed to participants in trainings conducted in Luzon and Zamboanga [Philippines] for wider dissemination of information.
