Abstract

Asian corn borers (ACB), Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenee) were collected in two municipalities of Isabela namely Catalina, Cauayan (CCI) and San Felipe, Ilagan (SII). Twenty-eight and nineteen isofemale lines were established in the laboratory for CCI and SII populations, respectively. Biological assay was conducted for each isofemale line using newly hatched F2 larvae fed with the Bt-corn leaf disc for 24 hours (h). Percent survival of isofemale lines from CCI ranged from 3.37% to 94.59% while those from SII ranged from 9.09% to 75.00%. Adult development was observed in the survivors of both CCI (60.71%) and SII (57.89%). However, only three isofemale lines from CII and one isofemale line from SII reached the F6 generation and still maintained in the laboratory for further Cry1Ab resistance allele screening.
