Parasitization of Bakera nigrobilineata (Melichar) by an unidentified strepsipteran
Issue Date
10-2014
Abstract
An unidentified female Halictophagus sp. was found parasitizing either singly or in pairs, the mango leafhopper Bakera nigrobilineata (Melichar) collected from mango trees in the University of the Philippines Los Baños lower campus from February 2013 to January 2014. No male parasitoid was observed for the duration of the study and the female was assumed to be parthenogenic. Thwe species is tentatively placed under genus Halictophagus based on the presence of three (3) genital ducts in the cephalothorax.
