Abstract
Biological studies on Aphytis sp. was conducted under laboratory conditions. This wasps is an ectoparasitoid of the coconut scale insect (CSI). The total developmental period ranged from 11 to 14 days. Eggs were laid singly and adults lived for about 2-6days. Wasps lay eggs on both second and third instar CSI. Preference test, however, showed that the third instar CSIs are more preferred to second instar. The size of developing offsprings depends on different factors such as time of oviposition, number of offspring per scale, and the stage of the host. The larger the scale insect, the larger is the Apytis offspring especially in 1 coconut scale insect: 1 Aphytis offspring ratio.
