Abstract
Nine (9) botanical extracts, namely: Neem, Azdirachta indica leaf; wild sage, Lantana camara leaf; lagundi, Vitex negundo leaf; marigold, Tagetes erecta leaf; ginger, Zingiber officinale rhizome; chili pepper, Capsicum annuum fruits; tobacco, Nicotiana tabacum leaf; lemon grass, Cymbopogon citratus leaf, sugar apple, Annona squamosa leaf and insecticide (Cypermethrin) were evaluated against rice grain bug (RGB), Paraeucosmetus pallicornis adults through filter paper and spray methods conducted under laboratory and screen house conditions. Among the botanical extracts tested using filter paper method, N. tabacum leaf extract was very effective on RGB adults resulting in 100% mortality after 5 minutes post treatment application, while insecticide treatment caused the same mortality after 1 hour post treatment application. On the other hand, RGB mortality was recorded at 90%, 85%, and 75% after spraying with G. annuum fruit extract, A. indica leaf extract, V. negundo leaf extract and C. citriatus leaf extract, respectively.
