Relationship between chlorophyll meter reading and leaf nitrogen concentration in custard apple

Abstract
Custard apple (Annona squamosa L.) is a fruit species native to Brazil and poorly studied, such as its nutrition. While the portable chlorophyll meter has been used to predict nitrogen (N) requirements to improve N fertilizer management in some crops.. This experiment tried to evaluate the relationship between the readings provided by the chlorophyll index and the leaf nitrogen (N) concentration in custard apple with varying N rates (0, 100, 175 and 250 g N per plant). Nitrogen leaf concentration of custard apple was more correlated with leaf chlorophyll a than leaf chlorophyll b that the strong and positive correlations between the leaf chlorophyll readings and leaf N concentration in custard apple trees demonstration the potential use of chlorophyll meter, a rapid, non-destructive and inexpensive estimations of leaf N status of custard apple.
