Abstract
Management strategy against the injurious populations of yellow stem borer, Scirpophaga incertulas. The yellow stem borer, Scirpophaga incertulas remains as one of the chronic pests of rice in the Philippines. During high insect pest populations, even varieties classified as moderately resistant incur more damage. Stemborer infestation causes high whitehead incidence resulting in low yield. Egg mass count is a more practical parameter for monitoring yellow stem borer infestation but the time of egg hatching, occurrence of overlapping populations, presence of natural enemies, and the rice growth stages should always be considered before intervention for control.
