Issue Date
10-2009
Abstract
Seventy-five percent of farmers use from three to nine brands of insecticides which they apply alternately or in cocktail. The users cited about 46 trade names of insecticides. The most widely used compound was cartap (by more than 50% of the farmers). Other compounds used by more than 20% of farmers were triazophos (31.21%), methomyl (29.13%), carbaryl (25.01%), thiamethoxam and chlorpyrifos alone in mixture (21.89% each). Flubendiamide which was introduced in the market in the same cropping season when the survey was conducted was already being used by 12.50% of farmers.
