Abstract
Dr. Belen Morallo-Rejesus retired from government service (i.e. as faculty of the Department of Entomology) on August 6, 2003 after more than 44 years of service to the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) performing instruction, research and extension functions. She began her involvement with the science of Entomology when she chose a baccalaureate course not offered in her region - agriculture. She enrolled in the Bachelor's degree, Honours curriculum, at the University of the Philippines, College of Agriculture in 1955 and majored in Economic Entomology. Immediate after graduation, she was hired as research instructor by her alma mater. In 1964, she left for the Univesity of Hawaii in Honolulu where she finished her master's degree major in Entomology under an East-West Center Scholarship. She immediately pursued a doctoral degree in Entomology at the Rutger's State University of New Jersey, graduating in 1969. Upon her return to UPLB in the same year, she was appointed Assistant Professor and subsequently promoted to full Professor in 1981.
